Abu Dhabi/New Delhi:  External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is visiting the UAE, held bilateral talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of UAE Abdullah bin Zayed, during which they discussed expanding the strategic partnership.

In a post on X, the EAM said the two also shared perspectives on the regional and global situation.

“Held a warm and wide – ranging discussion with DPM & FM @ABZayed.

“Discussed the positive trajectory of our comprehensive strategic partnership and its further expansion. Also shared perspectives on the regional and global situation.”

The EAM also addressed the Republic Day celebrations at the Indian Embassy, which was attended by the UAE DPM and FM Abdullah bin Zayed.

In his address, the EAM noted that the number of Indians who call UAE their second home has grown from 2.5 million in 2015 to over four million now, while 4.5 million Indians visit the country as tourists every year.

“These numbers speak of the warmth and cordiality that today characterizes our relationship. To all of them, I would like to convey that enhancing ease of living is one of our priorities, as much abroad as at home. We thank the UAE Government that actively assists us to make this possible,” he said.

“The world has entered a complicated and volatile phase because the global order is changing for real. These are occasions when new opportunities arise, and true friendships are forged. As we contemplate the global scenario, there is much that draws our two nations together. I can confidently assert that our collaboration in international platforms will only get stronger.”

On the bilateral ties, he said the past decade has seen a flowering of the ties with the UAE. “And its achievements are no less impressive, guided as they are by the Joint Vision of Prime Minister Modi and H.H. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement has expanded trade and investment.”

“Local currency trading arrangements and Fintech mechanisms have been a trendsetter. The B.A.P.S. Hindu Mandir has emerged as a beacon of pluralism, harmony and tolerance. Our educational institutions have proliferated, the latest being the IIT-Delhi Campus in Abu Dhabi. And what is still in the pipeline – in a range of domains – has further transformational possibilities.”
