Mumbai: The rupee on Tuesday slipped 18 paise to 86.52 against the USD in the opening session.
on rising demand for US dollars by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Forex Market said.
The local unit was seen weak owing to a firm dollar against other world currencies despite a strong opening in the equity market, the dealer informed.
The rupee recorded intra days high and low at 86.48 and 86.54 respectively, dealer added.
