Srinagar: The National Conference (NC) has expressed optimism that Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood will be restored in the upcoming Budget session of Parliament.

Talking to reporters as per news agency JKNS NC Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, emphasized that reinstating statehood is crucial for addressing public grievances and ensuring employment opportunities.

He noted that with the Prime Minister’s commitment to the people, there is no need for confrontations with the central government over this issue.

Additionally, Sadiq announced that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be set at Rs 40 crore each, as promised by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. A proposal regarding this will be submitted soon.

National Conference formed a government in Jammu and Kashmir after the first local elections since the region’s special status was revoked in 2019.

Omar Abdullah was sworn in as Chief Minister. However, the region remains a union territory under New Delhi’s direct control, with limited powers granted to the local government.

The restoration of full statehood is seen as essential for empowering the local administration and addressing public concerns.

Tanveer said that including non muslims in waqf board is injustice with us as there is anything like that in Hindu boards.

He termed the meeting of Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and MP Aga Ruhullah very important as according to them it will help to keep all muslims united.

He said that their government is working to bring all lakes on tourism map so that it can help locals to earn their livelihood and empower them.—(JKNS)
