Pulwama: In a progressive step towards reformative justice, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Pulwama, today imposed community service on two individuals as a form of punishment, under the newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused identified as: Mudasir Ahmad Lone S/o Gh Nabi Lone R/o Kakapora and Amir Ahmad Ellehi S/o Mohd Maqbool Ellehi R/o Okhoo Kakapora, were found causing a disturbance under the influence of alcohol near District Hospital Pulwama.
The offenders were sentenced to clean the premises of the hospital for seven days.
This provision under the new penal codes highlights the shift towards rehabilitative measures aimed at educating offenders and encouraging them to contribute positively to the community.
It also ensures that punishment does not merely serve as a deterrent but as a mechanism for fostering social responsibility and accountability.
Pulwama Police is committed to implementing these new provisions, ensuring a balance between justice, rehabilitation, and the greater good of society.—(JKNS)
