Karnah:– In a major crackdown on the drug trade, Karnah Police have begun seizing properties of major drug traffickers involved in illegal activities. As part of this operation, residential properties of individuals linked to narcotics cases have been confiscated, as they were found to be built using illicit earnings.

According to the police, Zakir Hussain Shah, son of Ali Haider Shah, a resident of Takia Bahadurkot, had his house seized under FIR No. 78/2020. The case was registered under NDPS Act Sections 8/21, Arms Act Section 7/25, and UAPA Sections 13, 16, 18, 39 at Karnah Police Station. Authorities recovered 5 kg of heroin, 5 pistols, and other arms and ammunition from his possession. Investigations revealed that his residence was constructed using illegal drug money, leading to its seizure.

Similarly, Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, son of Habibullah Khan, a resident of Chitrakote, Karnah, had his property confiscated under FIR No. 38/2022. His case was registered under NDPS Act Sections 8/21, Explosive Substances Act Sections 3/5, and UAPA Sections 13, 23, 39. Police had recovered 7 kg of heroin and 2 IEDs from his possession. Investigations confirmed that his property was acquired and built using proceeds from drug trafficking, contributing to a narcotics-terrorism network in the region.

Under the NDPS Act, a complete ban has been imposed on the sale, transfer, or use of these properties without prior approval from authorities.

Kupwara Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling narco-terror networks and ensuring law and order in the region. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or terrorism to help create a drug-free and safer society
