Srinagar:- The National Conference (NC) has strongly rejected claims that it is in discussions with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a possible alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, calling such reports “baseless” and “irresponsible.”

NC spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, while speaking to the media as per news agency JKNS, dismissed a report published in a local newspaper, stating that it was completely unfounded.

He clarified that NC president Farooq Abdullah was in Mumbai, not Delhi, as suggested in the report. He also downplayed Omar Abdullah’s recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, describing it as routine.

“Omar Abdullah has met the Home Minister before, and no special arrangements were made for this meeting,” Sadiq said.

Reiterating the party’s firm stance against the BJP and its policies, Sadiq said, “We contested elections against the BJP, and our position remains unchanged. These speculative reports are false, and media outlets spreading such misinformation will not be entertained by the party in the future.”

He acknowledged that the NC has always maintained a working relationship with the central government, which will continue for the benefit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. However, he emphasized, “The BJP and NC can never be in the same camp. Omar Abdullah’s meetings with the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and other central leaders are purely for the welfare of J&K.”—(JKNS)
