Srinagar: Sitting in his small workshop, hands steady and eyes filled with determination, Mudasir Ahmad Ahangar from Khunmoh, Srinagar, refuses to let his disability define him.

Despite being 90% immobile since infancy due to a medical condition, he has mastered the skill of repairing electrical items, including transformers and wiring systems, earning his livelihood with dignity.

Recalling his early struggles with moist eyes, Mudasir told news agency JKNS, “I was just eight months old when I developed some health complications. According to my parents, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was removed from my lower back in a hospital, which led to my disability. Since then, I have been unable to move on my own.”

Despite his physical limitations, Mudasir remains hopeful and determined. “I trust Allah and earn with my own hands. I don’t need financial assistance, but I want people to bring their electrical items here for repair so I can make a living. My only request is for people to support my work by getting their things fixed here,” he said.

He shared how his daily routine depends on the support of others. “I cannot walk on my own. I am lifted onto a scooter and brought to my shop every day.

Once here, I work with my own hands, repairing transformers and various electrical appliances. However, I don’t sell new items because I can’t afford to. I only repair things, and my biggest satisfaction is that I earn my living with my own efforts,” he added.

Mudasir’s resilience and dedication stand as a testament to his unwavering spirit. He hopes that people will recognize his skills and continue to support his work, allowing him to sustain himself with dignity.

“I believe in hard work because tomorrow, no one will taunt me. My effort ensures that people will say I earn with my own hands, not by relying on others,” Mudasir said, as hope strengthened his resolve.

“Unfortunately, I have not received any support from the government,” he added, expressing his disappointment. (JKNS)
