New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday termed Maha Kumbh as “Maha Yagya” of unity saying, “This unforgettable scene of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat became a grand festival of self-confidence”.

Prime Minister Modi’s remarks came after the world’s largest spiritual gathering Maha Kumbh 2025 concluded on February 26, with the final holy dip on Mahashivratri.

Over the past 45 days, more than 650 million pilgrims have taken a holy dip in the sacred waters of Prayagraj.

In a series of tweets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The way the faith of 140 crore countrymen came together for 45 days at the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj, at one time, and joined this one festival, is overwhelming”.

“People from every section and every region of society united in this Maha Kumbh. This unforgettable scene of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat became a grand festival of self-confidence in crores of countrymen” he wrote on X.

The Prime Minister wished that “uninterrupted flow of unity among the countrymen continues to flow” and hailed the people to make this Maha Kumbh a grand success.

“Impressed by the hard work, efforts and determination of the countrymen to make this Maha Kumbh of unity a success, I will visit Shri Somnath, the first Jyotirlinga out of the twelve Jyotirlingas. I will offer my Sankalp Pushp as a symbol of devotion and pray for every Indian. I wish that this uninterrupted flow of unity among the countrymen continues to flow like this” he said.

Earlier, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met the railway officials at Prayagraj Junction and appreciated them for their work done during the Maha Kumbh.

Addressing the media at the Prayagraj Junction he said that more than 16,000 trains were operated for the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. “Around 4 crore 50 lakh passengers commuted in and out of Prayagraj through trains” he said.
