Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Education Department has shortlisted 14 candidates for the posts of Chairman JKBOSE and Director SCERT, calling them for an interaction on March 5.
As per an official notification issued by the School Education Department (SED), a copy of which lies with JKNS, a meeting of the Search Committee, headed by the Financial Commissioner/Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department, was held on February 17, 2025.
The shortlisted candidates include Munshi Tehmina Yousuf, Principal, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar; Dr. Sunil Gupta, Principal, GDC Basohli; Raj Kumar, Joint Registrar, University of Jammu; Naveen Anand, Dean, Academic Affairs, Cluster University of Jammu; Dr. Satinder Kour, Dean, Cluster University of Jammu; Dr. Manisha Kohli, Principal, Higher Education Department, J&K; Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, Dean & Head, School of Education, Central University of Kashmir; and Dr. Shehnaz Iqbal Quraishi, Deputy Registrar, Islamic University of Science & Technology, Awantipora.
Other candidates include Dr. Twinkle Suri, Principal, GDC Samba; Jahangir Iqbal Tantray, Co-Coordinator/Head, Department of Persian, University of Kashmir; Abid Hussain, Additional Commissioner, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s office; Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, JKSCERT; Dr. Jatinder Khajuria, Finance Officer, University of Jammu; and Dr. Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary, JKBOSE.
The notification states that all shortlisted applicants must appear before the Search Committee for an interaction on March 5, 2025, at 12 noon in the Committee Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Main Building, Civil Secretariat, Jammu.
The J&K government had reconstituted the Search Committee on December 13, 2024, to recommend candidates for the positions of JKBOSE Chairman and Director of the Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
The committee is led by the Administrative Secretary of the Agricultural Production Department, with members from the School Education Department (SED), General Administration Department (GAD), and Higher Education Department (HED). Additionally, the Vice-Chancellors of the University of Kashmir (KU) and the University of Jammu (JU) are part of the panel.
Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas was appointed as JKBOSE Chairman on deputation for two years, starting January 25, 2023, and was expected to vacate the office on January 25, 2025. However, despite no extension orders from the Chief Minister, the J&K government extended his tenure for another month, which ended on February 25, 2025.
Currently, JKBOSE remains headless amid the crucial period of final board examinations. The evaluation process and results of Class 10th, 11th, and 12th must be completed within 45 days, as per government directions following the reversal of the academic session. (JKNS)
