Karnah: The construction of the 12 MW power project is progressing rapidly; however, the recent heavy rains have created obstacles in its development. Reports indicate that cracks have appeared in key structures at various locations, while the basic infrastructure has also sustained damage, further complicating the construction process.
It is noteworthy that the project is being executed by Angelique International Limited, with a commissioning target set for June-July 2025. However, sources reveal that due to the recent rains, the civil structure from the surge shaft to the new deliver house has suffered damage. Additionally, the protective wall of the surge shaft/valve house has been affected. The tunnel weir at the headworks has sustained severe damage, and reports indicate the destruction of power cables at multiple locations.
Furthermore, landslides from the surge shaft to the headworks have damaged roads, causing transportation difficulties. The HRP line has also been affected in several places, which could jeopardize the timely completion of the project.
Relevant authorities have stated that a detailed assessment of the damage is underway, and restoration work in the affected areas will commence soon to prevent unnecessary delays. The local population has also urged officials to take immediate steps for infrastructure restoration so that the project can be completed without further hindrances and electricity supply can be ensured on time.
