Karnah // For the eighth consecutive day, the road to Karnah remains blocked due to heavy snowfall at Sadhna Top, leaving residents in distress. Despite efforts by Beacon authorities, the road is yet to be cleared, causing severe shortages of essential supplies and stranding hundreds of passengers in Kupwara.

The prolonged road closure has also resulted in a complete power outage, forcing people to endure harsh winter conditions in darkness. Students and daily wage earners are among those worst affected.

Meanwhile, the crisis has taken an emotional toll as well. The body of a sick child from Khodpara, who passed away in Srinagar, remains stranded due to the failure of a promised helicopter service. Similarly, the body of a woman from Ghubra, Karnah, lies in Handwara Hospital, awaiting transport.

The situation has sparked outrage among locals, who have staged protests and sit-ins, demanding immediate restoration of the road and swift action to bring the deceased home. Residents blame the administration for its delayed response, arguing that timely snow clearance could have prevented the crisis.

With public frustration mounting, calls for urgent government intervention grow louder. Locals urge authorities to expedite road clearance, restore electricity, and ensure the smooth supply of essentials to alleviate their suffering.
