Srinagar: The residents of Budgam district on Saturday staged a protest in Budgam as they alleged their grievances were not listened to in lok Adalat.
Consumers staged protest in Budgam and demanded intervention of higher ups in this regard.
Protestors told news agency JKNS that they came in lok Adalat on Saturday morning so that their grievances will be listened but after waiting full day, they were asked to leave as grievances were not entertained by the authorities.
“If our grievances won’t be heard in lok Adalats then what is the fun of conducting these lok adalats,” they said.
A protestor said that he is working as a salesman where he is getting 10 thousand per month and Rs 5 thousand he has to spent for medicine of his son who is kidney patient while 2700 he has to submit as electricity bill per month, then how can he live his life.
He said that NC government cheated us who promised us 200 free units of electricity but now they have decided to give it to AAY households holds whose number is just around 1-2 percent.
Other protestors while echoing same voice said that they have been facing problems due to huge power tariffs.
They said that grievances of people were listened in lok Adalat in Beerwah but not in Budgam due to unknown reasons.
The situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the residents of Budgam in balancing infrastructural advancements with affordability and community involvement in decision-making processes.
They demanded that power tariffs must be lowered immediately and amnesty scheme must be resumed at an earliest
They have sought the attention of higher ups especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in this regard.—(JKNS)
