Srinagar: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division in Budgam is currently experiencing significant staffing shortages, notably the absence of a Superintending Engineer (SE) and an Executive Engineer.

These vacancies as per news agency JKNS have led to operational challenges, particularly in areas like Budgam and Beerwah, where other key positions also remain unfilled.

This situation has caused concern among contractors, especially as the financial year draws to a close, potentially impacting project completions and financial outcomes.

They said that if their bills won’t be cleared now by end of this month, then they may lose their payment as same happened in 2018 and they are yet to get the payment.

The current vacancies in these critical roles disrupt the standard operational structure, leading to delays in project execution and financial disbursements., they said.

Contractors in Budgam, Beerwah and surrounding areas are particularly affected, facing potential financial losses as projects stall and payments are deferred.

Despite bringing this issue in notice of concerned authorities several times nothing has been done as of now.

They have sought the attention of LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah in this regard.—(JKNS)
