Kupwara: In a significant initiative to promote sportsmanship and community engagement, Kupwara Police successfully conducted the final match of the Kupwara Police Volleyball League (KPVL) 2025 and inaugurated a Women’s Cricket Tournament at DPL Kupwara.

The volleyball tournament, which commenced on February 25, featured eight teams from across district Kupwara. The final match was an intense showdown between Hyhama Volleyball Club and Kupwara Volleyball Club, with Hyhama Volleyball Club emerging victorious.

The closing ceremony was graced by SSP Kupwara, Shri Ghulam Jeelani Wani (JKPS), along with DySP DAR Kupwara Shri Gulzar Rashid (JKPS) and other senior officers. The event witnessed a large turnout of enthusiastic spectators, reinforcing the importance of sports in community-building.

During the prize distribution ceremony, SSP Kupwara felicitated the winners and runners-up with trophies, mementos, and cash prizes, commending their dedication, skill, and sportsmanship.

The successful conclusion of the volleyball tournament and the inauguration of the Women’s Cricket Tournament provided a dynamic platform for young athletes to showcase their talent as these initiatives are intended to foster a mutual cooperation and a warm relation between police and the local population.

Kupwara Police remains committed to organizing such sporting events in the future also to engage more youth for a better public outreach.
