Social Welfare Organised Sports Events Across Srinagar Under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Initiative

Srinagar: The Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the District Youth Services and Sports Office Srinagar )DYSSO), organized a series of sports events and competitions under the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” initiative.
These events aim to empower young girls and promote gender equality through sports.

The competitions featured sports disciplines such as volleyball, chess, and carrom, engaging participants from all eight sports zones of Srinagar.
Over 800 girls and 200 Youth Services and Sports (YSS) officials took part in the initiative, displaying enthusiasm and competitive spirit.
Before starting the competitions, a pledge ceremony was administered across all the 8 sports zones of Srinagar, highlighting the women empowerment.
The inaugural event was held at GHSS Kothibagh, where District Social Welfare Officer Srinagar, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad, presided over the ceremony.
The event was attended by DYSSO Srinagar, Ghulam Hassan Lone, Principal Nusrat Bukhari, and other prominent sports personalities of district Srinagar.

Such activities were inaugurated at various locations, ensuring widespread participation and engagement. The winners of the competitions were awarded trophies and medals, while food packs and fruits were distributed among all participants.
