Bandipora: The 85-kilometer Bandipora-Gurez road reopened for one-way traffic after being closed due to heavy snowfall, official said on Saturday.

An official confirmed to news agency JKNS that the Border Roads Organization (BRO), responsible for maintaining the route, has successfully completed snow clearance operations.

As a result, vehicular movement was allowed to resume on the Gurez-Bandipora road under strict traffic regulations, official said.

Unlike previous years when the Gurez-Bandipora road remained closed for nearly three months during winter due to heavy snow accumulation, especially at Razdan Pass, this year, traffic movement was suspended for only 28 days.

Authorities have announced that the road will officially open for two-way traffic from tomorrow, ensuring smoother connectivity for the residents of Gurez who depend on this vital link for essential supplies and travel.

The reopening of the road comes as a relief for residents of Gurez, who rely on this crucial link for connectivity and essential supplies during the winter months. (JKNS)
