KUPWARA: The District Administration Kupwara on Saturday organized an emotional farewell ceremony in honour of Mohammad Rouf Rehman, the outgoing Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the district—especially its remote and border regions.
The event, held at the District Administrative Complex Kupwara, was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan and attended by a large number of officers and staff from various departments. The gathering was a testament to the immense respect and admiration Rehman earned during his tenure.
Kupwara, a border district of Jammu and Kashmir, includes several far-flung and sensitive areas such as Karnah, Keran, Budnamal, and Machil, which often face unique challenges due to their difficult terrain and proximity to the Line of Control (LoC). During his tenure, ADC Mohammad Rouf Rehman paid special attention to these regions, ensuring improved coordination, timely grievance redressal, and better service delivery, which won him immense appreciation from the people living along the borders.
While addressing the gathering, DC Ayushi Sudan praised Rehman’s administrative capabilities, highlighting his sense of duty, quick decision-making in times of crisis, and his instrumental role in enhancing inter-departmental cooperation. “He is a responsible and bold officer who never hesitated in taking firm stands during challenging times,” she said.
Several senior officers also shared their experiences, applauding Rehman’s people-centric approach and his commitment to the development of the district, especially marginalized and border populations. They acknowledged that his tenure brought visible improvements in governance and outreach in the toughest terrains.
