Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar on Monday evening as part of his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
He was received at the Srinagar International Airport by Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and other senior officials.
Sources told news agency JKNS that from Srinagar Airport Shah will proceed directly towards the residence of martyred DySP Humayun Muzammil Bhat in Humhama to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
DySP Humayun was among four officers martyred during an encounter with terrorists in South Kashmir’s Kokernag on September 13, 2023.
Officials said the Home Minister will also chair a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar.
Shah is likely to focus on the status of ongoing developmental projects and centrally sponsored schemes in the Union Territory.
Sources added that Shah is also expected to meet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during his Srinagar visit.
Earlier on Sunday, Shah held a closed-door meeting with BJP legislators and office-bearers in Jammu, focusing on organisational matters and preparedness for the upcoming elections.
This is Shah’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the formation of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government. (JKNS)
