Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday visited the residence of martyred DySP Humayun Muzamil Bhat at Humhama to offer condolences to the bereaved family, after reaching Srinagar.

Humayun was martyred during an encounter with terrorists in South Kashmir’s Kokernag on September 13, 2023.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that Shah interacted with the family, paid floral tributes to the fallen officer, and praised his sacrifice in the line of duty.

He was Accompanied by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other senior officials.

Soon after, Shah proceeded to Raj Bhawan for high-level meetings on the security and developmental scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, Srinagar witnessed heightened security arrangements ahead of Shah’s movements. Multi-tier deployment was put in place, with checkpoints established across the city, intense frisking of vehicles and pedestrians, and drone surveillance carried out as a precautionary measure.

This is Amit Shah’s first visit to the Union Territory following the formation of the Omar Abdullah-led government.

Shah is expected to meet the Chief Minister and review key issues concerning the region. (JKNS)
