Srinagar:  Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday instructed security agencies to further intensify anti-terror operations through enhanced surveillance and seamless coordination to achieve the goal of uprooting terror in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said this while chairing a crucial security review meeting in Srinagar on the last day of his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Besides security review, the Home Minister also chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects in the Union Territory.

After the security meeting, the Home Minister said that the Narendra Modi government’s multi-pronged security strategy has crippled terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Chaired a security review meeting for J&K along with Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha Ji and senior officials. Agencies crippled terror in J&K through the Modi govt’s multi-pronged approach to security,” Shah said in a post on X.

“Instructed to further intensify anti-terror offensives by advanced vigilance and seamless mutual coordination to achieve the goal of uprooting terror for good. The Modi government is committed to building a secure and prosperous J&K,” he added.

The security review meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, General officer Commanding Northern Command Lt. General Suchindra Kumar, Corps Commander posted in J&K, Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary, J&K Director General of Police, chiefs of paramilitary forces, including BSF and CRPF, among others attended the meeting.

However, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was not part of the meeting.

An official statement issued after the meeting said the Union Home Minister lauded the efforts of security agencies for the significant reduction in terror-related incidents, infiltration and recruitment of youth in terrorist organisations.

He reiterated the zero-tolerance policy against terrorism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Due to sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi Government, the entire terror eco-system nurtured by elements inimical to our country in Jammu and Kashmir has been crippled,” he said.

Shah also directed that the implementation of Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan must be ensured in mission mode.

The Home Minister said all agencies should continue to work in a coordinated manner so that the gains made after the abrogation of Article 370 in the Union Territory can be sustained and the goal of ‘terror-free J&K’ can be achieved at the earliest.

The Home Minister said the Modi Government is providing all resources necessary to achieve this goal.

Shah also reviewed the preparedness of Amarnathji Yatra which is scheduled from July 3 to August 9 this year and directed concerned agencies to take all necessary action for conducting holy yatra peacefully.

The security meeting was held amid a spike in militant activity in the Jammu region, where four policemen were killed in an encounter with militants in March.

Earlier, the Home Minister chaired a development review meeting which was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and senior government officials. The meeting lasted over two hours and focused on accelerating developmental initiatives across sectors.

Following the meeting, Shah said the Modi government is working with an unwavering resolve towards building a developed J&K.

He said the tireless efforts of the Prime Minister are ushering in a new era of prosperity for every citizen through development and welfare initiatives.

Shah said Jammu and Kashmir is accelerating on the path of growth in every sector.

“Untiring efforts of the Modi Government to accelerate the pace of development in Jammu and Kashmir have resulted in comprehensive changes in all sectors in the Union Territory,” Shah said.

During the review meeting, the achievements of the Union Territory in the fields of power, connectivity, industry, tourism, agriculture etc. were presented to the Union Home Minister. UNI
