Srinagar: Inspector General of Police VIdhi Kumar Birdi on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir Police is always on toes to counter Narco-Terrorism and are always on alert mode to ensure peace and uninterrupted public life across the region.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of his visit to the Baisakhi festival in Srinagar, Birdi as per news agency JKNS said the police force remains vigilant to maintain law and order, so that citizens can continue their daily activities without fear or disruption.

When asked about the challenges posed by narco-terrorism, Birdi said the department deals with the drug menace on a “mission mode” and is determined to take stringent action against those involved.

“In the last two years, we’ve significantly intensified our crackdown against drug peddlers. A large number of FIRs have been registered, many accused arrested, and their properties seized as per legal procedures,” Birdi said,

“Such action is aimed at setting a strong example and safeguarding the society from this threat,” he said.

Birdi said the police remain committed to providing a safe environment so that people can move, work, and live freely. (JKNS)
