REASI: The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) today successfully conducted the second district-level awareness workshop under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme at DC Office, Reasi. The workshop underscored the J&K Government’s resolve to build a robust MSME ecosystem and drive inclusive economic growth at the grassroots.
The event was held under the guidance of Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Vikramjit Singh and Managing Director, JKTPO Sudarshan Kumar. It was organized in collaboration with the Grant Thornton-led State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) and District Industries Centre (DIC), Reasi.
General Manager, DIC Reasi Kishor Singh Karoch addressed the participants, emphasizing the vital role of MSMEs in the district’s economic development. He encouraged MSME units and stakeholders to actively leverage the RAMP scheme’s support mechanisms for enhancing productivity, market access, and institutional linkages. This workshop is part of a series of outreach programs planned across the Union Territory to build awareness and capacity among MSMEs, stakeholders and implementing agencies under the RAMP initiative.
Jammu and Kashmir has been allotted ₹74.03 crore under the RAMP scheme, comprising ₹66.63 crore from the Central Government and ₹7.40 crore from the UT’s contribution. The Department of Industries and Commerce is steering the implementation, with JKTPO serving as the Nodal Agency for seamless coordination and execution.
During the event, the SPIU team delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the approved interventions under RAMP in J&K. Key highlights included the formalization of MSMEs through Udyam Registration and the strategic packaging and promotion of GI-tagged, ODOP, DEH and other distinctive regional products. The presentation also emphasized cluster development efforts by supporting the creation of producer companies and associations, alongside initiatives like Buyer-Seller Meets (BSMs), Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets (RBSMs), and the launch of the J&K MSMEs Health Clinic.
Further, the team showcased plans for a dedicated Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Dashboard, along with robust Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Programs (ESDPs) and Management Development Programs (MDPs). Promoting digital financing solutions emerged as a pivotal component, aimed at empowering MSMEs and fostering economic resilience across the region.
The workshop saw active involvement from MSME entrepreneurs, officials from the Industries and Commerce Department, ITI Reasi students, financial institution representatives, and other significant stakeholders. SPIU consultants clarified doubts and reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to ensuring effective implementation on the ground.
The event wrapped up with a unified commitment to broadening the scope and influence of the RAMP scheme throughout the Union Territory, empowering MSMEs in J&K to become more robust, competitive, and prepared for the future.
