Srinagar: Amid prevailing weather advisories forecasting rain and snowfall, especially in hilly areas, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir has issued an advisory stating that SSG Road, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Road shall remain closed for vehicular movement on Sunday as well.
As per the advisory, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, these roads will only be reopened after clearance from the concerned road maintenance authorities. Motorists and commuters are advised to adhere to the following guidelines:
Movement on hilly roads will be strictly permitted according to prescribed cut-off timings and advisories issued daily by Traffic Headquarters J&K. Travellers are advised to confirm travel timings in advance from TPCR Kashmir via 0194-2482200, 0194-2450022, 0194-2485396, or toll-free number 103.
To prevent breakdowns or accidents, drivers must ensure their vehicles are roadworthy — equipped with anti-skid gear, sufficient fuel, working batteries, headlights, and wipers.
During travel, drivers must wear seat belts or helmets, maintain safe distances, follow speed regulations, avoid overtaking on frosty roads, refrain from roadside parking or fun driving, and take precautions in foggy weather while maintaining lane discipline.
Commercial drivers are strongly cautioned against overloading, over-height, or overhanging items, which may lead to fatal accidents.
Further, vehicular movement on the Srinagar-Jammu highway during inclement weather will be strictly regulated as per daily advisories from Traffic Headquarters J&K. Commuters are urged to plan travel accordingly. (JKNS)
