Ramban, Apr 20 (JKNS): Three persons lost their lives and over 90 others were rescued after a cloudburst triggered a flash flood in Ramban district on Sunday morning.
An official told news agency JKNS that the sudden cloudburst led to a sharp rise in the water level of a local Nallah, which turned into a flash flood, sweeping into the village.
Three people died and over 90 people have been rescued, ten houses were completely destroyed while 25 to 30 others sustained partial damage, the official said.
As panic gripped the area, Dharamkund police immediately launched a rescue operation and successfully evacuated around 90 to 100 people trapped by the surging waters.
Authorities have started assessing the extent of damage. Rescue and relief efforts are still underway. (JKNS)
