Srinagar: In response to the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has directed all major stakeholders in the tourism sector to extend full assistance to affected tourists.

As per an official circular dated April 23, 2025, signed by Secretary Tourism V. Vidyavathi, the ministry as per news agency JKNS has appealed to travel agents, tour operators, Online Travel Aggregators (OTAs), transport providers, and hoteliers to waive off cancellation fees and provide all possible support to tourists impacted by the incident.

The advisory was sent to leading platforms including MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Goibibo, ClearTrip, EaseMyTrip, Airbnb, Agoda, Thrillophilia, Booking.com, Expedia, and various tourism and hospitality associations.

The ministry has also shared the communication with the Department of Tourism, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to ensure wide coordination and effective implementation of the support measures.

The move aims to ease the distress faced by tourists in the valley following the April 22 terror strike in Baisaran, Pahalgam, which claimed 27 innocent lives. (JKNS)
