Rajouri: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Thursday visited Sunderbani area to take stock of the situation as tensions continue to escalate along the India-Pakistan border.

DyCM Choudhary while interacting with displaced families in relief camps, as per news agency JKNS said, “We hope that this ongoing conflict will be the last war between India and Pakistan, as the people living along the border have suffered enough over the past 75 years due to repeated skirmishes.”

He assured the public of the Indian Army’s preparedness and appealed to people to maintain peace and avoid falling for rumors. “The government stands firmly with the people. The administration has been directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of food, medical care, and secure shelter to the affected,” he added.

Deputy CM’s visit comes amid heightened tensions following Operation SINDOOR, in which India targeted terror hubs across the border. In retaliation, Pakistani forces have intensified shelling along the LoC, leading to civilian casualties. As per official data, 16 civilians, including three women and five children, have lost their lives and injuring 53 others due to Pakistani shelling in Poonch and other areas including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri.
