Srinagar, May 20 (JKNS): In a significant move aimed at strengthening the logistics infrastructure in the Union Territory, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has reconstituted the Logistic Coordination Committee for integrated development of the logistics sector.

According to the order a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, the reconstituted committee will be headed by the Administrative Secretary of the Industries & Commerce Department and will include top officials from the Transport Department, Finance Department, Public Works (R&B), Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu, and senior representatives from key logistics-related departments of the Government of India. These include the Ministry of Commerce, Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, and Indian Railways.

The committee has been tasked with formulating a comprehensive logistic policy for the Union Territory, enhancing cargo movement, and developing infrastructure like Transport Nagars, dry ports, and warehousing hubs. It will also identify gaps in the current logistics ecosystem and propose multi-modal strategies to increase efficiency in both domestic and EXIMS trade.

Furthermore, the committee will explore the adoption of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to ensure coordinated project planning, especially for last-mile connectivity. The initiative is expected to streamline logistics, reduce operational costs, and position Jammu & Kashmir as a key player in the regional supply chain landscape. (JKNS)
