Srinagar, May 21 (JKNS): The 6th edition of the Inter-College Badminton Rolling Trophy (2025), organized by Government College for Women, M.A. Road Srinagar, concluded with GCW Nawakadal clinching the prestigious title after an intense final clash.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that the tournament, which began on May 5, witnessed spirited participation from various women’s colleges across Kashmir. The final showdown was held between the host college GCW M.A. Road and GCW Nawakadal. In a thrilling contest of skill and stamina, GCW Nawakadal emerged victorious with a straight 2-0 win.

The closing ceremony was attended by the principals of both colleges, who distributed medals and trophies among the winners and participants. In her address, Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq, Principal of GCW M.A. Road, emphasized the importance of sports in student life. “We are committed to building a strong sports culture, especially among female students. Our college has been constantly upgrading its sports infrastructure and encouraging students to participate at all levels,” she said.

Prof. Yasmeen highlighted that many students from the college have brought laurels in inter-college tournaments and expressed her confidence in nurturing more talent in the future. She reiterated the college’s ongoing collaborations with sports associations to further develop opportunities for female athletes.

The tournament’s inaugural ceremony on May 5 had Registrar of Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Syed Wilayat Hussain Rizvi as Chief Guest and Sports Secretary Dr. Munir Ahmad Mir as Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries praised the host college’s efforts in promoting holistic development through sports. (JKNS)
