Budgam, May 23 (JKNS): Amid forecast of persistent heatwave across Kashmir, the District Administration Budgam has issued a public advisory urging people to adopt precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.
The advisory follows a weather bulletin by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar Station, predicting high temperatures till May 29, 2025.
Precautionary Measures for the Public
According to the advisory a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, residents are advised to stay indoors in cool environments as much as possible and hydrate frequently.
People have been urged to wear lightweight, light-coloured, and loose-fitting clothing. Authorities cautioned against leaving children and pets unattended in vehicles and encouraged residents to regularly check on elderly relatives and neighbours.
Residents are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat hours. Those who must venture out have been told to wear hats and sunglasses and apply sunscreen.
The use of fans, coolers, or air conditioners has also been recommended, along with keeping curtains drawn during the hottest parts of the day, it reads.
Heads of educational institutions across Budgam have been instructed to prioritize the safety of students during this heatwave. Students are considered more vulnerable to heat stress, and school authorities have been directed to implement necessary precautions within their campuses.

All Tehsildars of the district have been asked to circulate timely advisories in their respective areas, especially targeting schools and other public institutions. They are also expected to raise awareness among vulnerable populations and maintain close coordination with local police to prevent any untoward incident.
