Rajouri, Jun 3 (JKNS): Authorities at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri have ordered the shifting of seven medical departments to the old hospital premises at Gujjar Mandi as part of preparations for the forthcoming National Medical Commission (NMC) inspection and enhancement of MBBS seat capacity from 100 to 150.
In a formal order issued by Principal Dr. A S Bhatia a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, it has been conveyed that the relocation plan aligns with NMC norms, focusing on infrastructure optimization and associated bed strength expansion. A committee constituted earlier recommended the shift after evaluating the feasibility of the relocation.
According to the order, the following departments are to be shifted to the old hospital building at Gujjar Mandi, Rajouri, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Dentistry, Radiotherapy. Ayush, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Unit, Chest and TB.
The decision is also in accordance with directions issued by the Hon’ble Minister for Health and Medical Education during her recent visit to Rajouri. Heads of Departments (HoDs) concerned—except Chest and TB—have been directed to initiate necessary shifting steps in coordination with the Medical Superintendent of GMC Rajouri Associated Hospital to ensure uninterrupted services during the transition.
The Administrative Section of GMC has been instructed to provide complete logistical and infrastructural support to ensure smooth and timely relocation. The entire process of department shifting must be completed within a week. (JKNS)
