Kulgam, June 10 (JKNS): In a swift and decisive anti-encroachment operation, the Revenue Department in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday retrieved around 15 marlas of Kahcharai (common/state) land in Turigam village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

According to the details available with JKNS, the land falling under Khasra No. 776 had been under the illegal possession of one Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, a local resident of the area.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Tehsildar Yaripora, Javaid Iqbal, with active support from Naib Tehsildar Zakir Ahmad and SHO Behibagh. The team acted promptly after reports of encroachment surfaced, and the land was successfully retrieved within 24 hours.

A senior official from the Revenue Department stated, “The district administration is committed to protecting and reclaiming encroached state land. This operation is part of the larger campaign to restore public land to its rightful status.”

Locals have appreciated the timely action, calling it a necessary step toward accountability and public interest.

The Kulgam district administration has reiterated that such anti-encroachment drives will continue with full force in the coming days to prevent misuse of government and community assets. (JKNS)
