Karnah, June 14, 2025 – Government Degree College (GDC) Tangdhar successfully organized a comprehensive awareness program today as part of the Government of India’s ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.” The event aimed to educate students and the local community on the severe consequences of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Held in the College Auditorium, the program saw enthusiastic participation from students, staff, and various local dignitaries. Prof. Younas Rasheed Tantray served as the event coordinator and delivered the welcome address, setting an impactful tone for the day. Ms. Nuzhat Qayoom gracefully anchored the proceedings.
The program was patronized and organized by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Principal of GDC Tangdhar, with Dr. Bilal Sheikh acting as the convener, ensuring seamless coordination of all activities.
A highlight of the event was the presence and insightful lectures from key officials. SDM Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad Lone, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the administrative efforts against drugs. Zonal Physical Education Officer, Mushtaq Ahmad, delivered a compelling talk on how physical fitness can be a powerful tool in avoiding drug addiction. Dr. Mukhtyar Parray, Medical Officer at SDH Tangdhar, provided a crucial medical perspective on substance abuse, highlighting its health impacts and the importance of timely intervention. Dr. Sumreen, Lecturer in Education, also presented an insightful lecture focusing on the psychological and educational dimensions of drug abuse among youth. The SHO Karnah was also present, demonstrating strong community and law enforcement support.
Around 100 students actively engaged in the interactive sessions, showing their commitment by pledging to contribute to a drug-free society.
Dr. Yaseen delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all speakers, the Tehsil administration, and attendees for making the program a resounding success. GDC Tangdhar reiterated its dedication to organizing similar awareness drives for the continued well-being and upliftment of the community.
