Jammu: Shahnaz Akhter, JKAS, newly appointed Director of the Rural Development Department (RDD) Jammu, chaired her first introductory meeting with the officers and officials of the Directorate today.
The meeting marked her initial interaction with the staff following her assumption of charge as Director. During the session, Ms. Akhter was warmly welcomed by the staff, who expressed their support and enthusiasm for her leadership.
In her address, she underscored the importance of efficient and timely public service delivery, calling upon all staff members to adopt a people-centric approach rooted in transparency, accountability, and responsiveness.
Emphasising the significance of respectful conduct, she stated that every individual visiting the Directorate is entitled to dignity and courteous engagement.
She further directed all officers and officials to ensure accessibility to the public, highlighting the need for improved communication and citizen engagement at every level. Punctuality and discipline, she added, are fundamental pillars of a responsible public office and must be upheld without exception.
The Director concluded by urging the team to work collectively in fostering a service-oriented culture, aligned with the broader mission of the Department to uplift rural communities through effective governance. (JKNS)
