Kupwara, July 1 (JKNS): In a quiet corner of Bramri village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, a unique partnership between a young scholar and her elderly father-in-law has created waves in the world of apiculture.

Zoon Honey Bee Farming, led by Tabassum Akhter, an M.Sc. Physics student, and her 72-year-old father-in-law Mohd Ramzan, has emerged as a remarkable rural success story, as per news agency JKNS.

Blending science with experience, the duo has developed a profitable honey production unit, now being hailed as a model for entrepreneurship in the region.

Tabassum’s academic background and Ramzan’s seven-year journey in integrated farming have together transformed their bee farm into a thriving business.

The initiative has been backed by vital local support. Aijaz Ahmad Malik, Apiculture Development Assistant in Kupwara, provided on-ground technical guidance, while Dr. Fara Naaz Rasool, a professor at SKUAST-K Shalimar, mentored the family through key stages of development.

Tabassum credits her father-in-law as the true driving force. “He’s not just my mentor he’s treated me like his own daughter,” she told JKNS. “His support and belief in me have made all the difference.”

With their honey now gaining attention beyond the district, Zoon Honey Bee Farming stands as a shining example of what is possible when tradition and education work hand in hand. Their journey continues to inspire young rural entrepreneurs across Kashmir. (JKNS)
