Srinagar, July 5 (JKNS): From central Kashmir to South Kashmir, minimum temperature records tumbled as Kashmir parts continues to reel under an intense heatwave.
According to data shared by Kashmir Weather as oer news agency JKNS, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 24.5°C, marking it as the 4th highest July night temperature ever.
The first highest night temperature was 25.2°C on July 21, 1988 while 2nd highest was recorded 24.8°C on July 29, 2024 and 3rd highest was recorded 24.6°C on July 28, 2024, details stated.
Qazigund logged 23.4°C, its highest-ever minimum temperature in July, surpassing the previous record of 22.8°C set on July 18, 1997, it reads.
In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 20.0°C, the second highest July minimum after 20.2°C on July 30, 2013. Kokernag registered 21.8°C, the second highest for July, following 22.6°C on July 2, 2005, data reads.
Officials said the unusual night temperatures are due to persistent dry and hot weather. (JKNS)
