Sikh Community Marks Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Birth Anniversary with Road-Cleaning March in Baramulla

Baramulla, July 5 (JKNS): In a vibrant display of devotion and community service, members of the Sikh community in Baramulla celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji with a unique march that began from Sinpora Baramullah on Saturday.

Carrying brooms in their hands, devotees participated in a symbolic cleanliness drive, sweeping the roads as a tribute to Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s teachings on humility, service, and selflessness.

The procession was marked by religious hymns and chants in praise of the revered Sikh Guru, around 7000 sikh community people are marching towards Chati padshahi Gurduwara, Baramullah including Children, elders and womans.

“This is not just a celebration, it’s a way of expressing our gratitude to Guru Gobind Singh Ji by serving the community,” said one of the participants. “He always preached about equality, cleanliness, and humanity. Today’s march is our way of following that path.”

Young and elderly devotees alike took part in the event, which passed through several localities, drawing attention and appreciation from residents for the community spirit and social responsibility.

A local woman participating in the march, said, “Guruji taught us to be warriors of truth and kindness. Cleaning the streets today is a reminder that service to mankind is service to God.”

The local Gurdwara committee thanked the district administration and residents of the area for their cooperation and support in making the event successful.

The occasion concluded with community prayers and distribution of langar (community meals), reinforcing the Sikh tradition of equality and brotherhood. (JKNS)
