Srinagar, July 17 (JKNS): The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir on Thursday conducted raids at multiple locations in Srinagar and Budgam, following a complaint of land fraud and revenue record tampering involving former Tehsildar Nusrat Aziz and six others.
Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir on Thursday carried out raids at multiple locations in Srinagar and Budgam in connection with an FIR registered against seven individuals, including a Tehsildar, for alleged corruption, cheating, false mutations, and tampering with revenue records, it reads
As per officials, the case was registered following a complaint by a land buyer who alleged that he was duped after purchasing land in Balhama. The accused allegedly manipulated Khasra numbers in the sale deeds and inserted false mutations in connivance with revenue officials, it reads.
The accused include the then Tehsildar Balhama Nusrat Aziz, the then Patwari Ashiq Ali, and others. Officials said that the accused, through an organised network, illegally altered records to benefit one Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, who later sold land that didn’t belong to him, statement reads.
FIR No. 14/2025 has been registered under relevant sections of RPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Searches are currently underway at seven locations in Srinagar and Budgam, it reads.
Officials also revealed that the prime accused, Nusrat Aziz, is already under investigation in a similar case (FIR No. 08/2021) nearing completion, reads the statement. (JKNS)
