A literary event was organized in Dangarpora Pulwama by Kashmir Markaz e Adab wa Saqafat in collaboration with Naw Adabi Karwan. The event was organized on the occasion of Faqeer Ash Ded’s death anniversary. The event consisted of several sessions, including a music concert and a poetry recital. The music concert was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The event was presided over by Faqeer Ash Ded’s son Faqeer Rahim Sahib, while President Kashmir Markaz e Adab wa Saqafat Dr. Ghazanfar Ali and psychologist Dr. Rifaat were also present in the presidium. The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. General Secretary of Kashmir Markaz e Adab wa Saqafat Inayat Gul delivered the welcome address.
In addition to hundreds of devotees, Ishan Shalimari and Shamima Bano, the event witnessed the participation of many prominent poets, who recited their poetry, creating a profound atmosphere of devotion and literary beauty. Poets from different regions participated in the event, who presented their soulful poems, highlighting the depth and literary grandeur of the Kashmiri Sufi tradition. The poetry of these poets was highly appreciated by the audience, which included poetry lovers and devotees.
The poets who recited their poetry included Ghulam Muhammad Nowsooz, Shawkat Faraar, Ali Ahsan, Nazir Salik, Umar Fayaz, Dr. Mohmmad Idrees, Muhammad Subhan Showkeen, Shakeel Azad, Inayat Gul and Dr. Ghazanfar Ali.
Renowned Sufi poet Manzoor Damdar was awarded the Faqeer Ash Deed Award at the event, and Faqeer Rahim Shah was also honored. It is worth noting that Faqeer Ash Deed was born in Dangarpora, Pulwama in 1923. She was in search of a mentor since childhood. She got married at the age of sixteen and gave birth to Faqeer Rahim Shah Pulwama, who is her current successor.
