Witness in Athwajan Property Attachment Has No Involvement in Drug Case: Clarifies Srinagar Police

Srinagar, July 23 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday issued a clarification regarding the role of a local resident who acted as a witness during the property attachment proceedings under the NDPS Act in Athwajan, Srinagar, stating that he has no involvement in the case.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, With reference to the recent property attachment proceedings under the provisions of NDPS Act in Athwajan, Srinagar, it is hereby informed that wide publicity was given in the vicinity regarding the attachment of the property belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, father of the two alleged accused persons, namely, Irfan Ahmad Ganie & Ajaz Ahmad Ganie.

The action was taken as a measure to send a strong and clear deterrent message against involvement in drug-related activities, statement reads.

In the course of the attachment process, several respectable individuals from the locality voluntarily came forward to witness the proceedings. Among them was Ajaz Ahmad Ganie, son of Asadullah Ganie, who participated in the process of his own free will as a witness, it reads.

Statement reads, However, after wide publicity, it came to the notice of Police that few people were repeatedly calling the witness namely Ajaz Ahmad Ganie son of Asadullah Ganie for his involvement in the instant case, due to confusion.

It is clarified for the information of the general public that Ajaz Ahmad Ganie son of Asadullah Ganie has no involvement whatsoever in the instant case, police clarifies.

His presence during the proceedings was solely in the capacity of a neutral and law-abiding citizen, it reads.

The public is hereby advised not to draw any unwarranted conclusions or spread misinformation about his role in the matter, reads the statement. (JKNS)
