Srinagar, Aug 2 (JKNS): An unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Akhal forest area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.

A senior police officer told news agency JKNS that the operation was launched following specific inputs about the movement of militants in the area. “During searches, security forces came under fire, leading to a gunfight in which one terrorist has been killed so far,” the officer said, adding that the operation is still underway.

The area has been cordoned off, and additional reinforcements have been deployed. Further details are awaited. (JKNS)
