Jammu, Aug 5 (JKNS): Jammu Police on Tuesday arrested a gangster and an interstate weapon smuggler in connection with the February 23 firing incident at Swaran Palace, Miran Sahib, recovering arms and ammunition from their possession.
As per news agency JKNS, the incident, which took place during a function, led to the registration of FIR No. 27/2025 under Sections 109/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Miran Sahib.
Police said two criminals were arrested on the day of the incident, with two pistols recovered from them. Continuing the investigation, a team led by S.I. Ajesh Singh Jamwal, under the supervision of SHO Miran Sahib Inspector Jai Pal Sharma, SDPO R.S. Pura, and SP Headquarters Jammu, arrested two more accused, including Balwinder Singh alias Goru Jatt, son of Swarn Singh, resident of Ranjri, Vijaypur, Samba. A pistol with live cartridges was also recovered from his possession.
Acting on further leads, police nabbed Kaif Ahmed, son of Shami Ahmed, a resident of Barharian, Siwan, Bihar, and currently a B.Tech student at Central University of Jammu. He is identified as the main supplier of illegal weapons to gangsters operating in Jammu and Samba.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests and recoveries are expected in the case. (JKNS)
