YSS organise Thrilling Sports Events Across J&K

Srinagar Aug 5 (JKNS): The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) across J&K has been abuzz with a series of engaging sporting events, fostering talent, fitness, and camaraderie among the student players.

In Kishtwar, the iconic Chowgan Ground hosted a dynamic Athletic Meet for AAG Girls, featuring spirited participation from various zones.

The District Youth Services & Sports Officer inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of discipline and sportsmanship in shaping young athletes. Track and field events saw fierce competition, culminating in a prize distribution ceremony honoring outstanding performers.

Srinagar witnessed a dual spectacle with the Inter-School District Level Martial Arts Competitions at Polo Ground, where over 200 boys and girls displayed prowess in Judo, Wushu, Taekwondo, and more.

Simultaneously, Gulab Bagh and Batamaloo zones organized U/14 and U/17 cricket tournaments, with Green Valley Educational Institute and Moon Land High School emerging victorious. Over 700 boys participated, reflecting the district’s enthusiasm for grassroots sports.

Ganderbal took center stage with the Inter District Provincial Level Football Championship for U-19 Girls, where Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, and host Ganderbal secured semifinal berths after intense league matches. The tournament, featuring all ten Kashmir districts, will crown its champion tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Zone Hariganiwan’s Badminton Competition for Boys saw young shuttlers earning spots in the upcoming Inter-Zonal Championship.

Anantnag celebrated the conclusion of its Inter-Zonal Volleyball Tournament, with Zone Dooru and Zone Qazigund clinching U14 and U17 titles, respectively.

At Zone Bhijbehra, Delhi Public School Sangam triumphed in the U14 Cricket Tournament, while a coaching camp for U17 boys was launched to hone future talent. Zone Qazigund’s Unity Run and Pledge event resonated with 730 participants, promoting national unity.

Rajouri’s residential football camp concluded at Mini Stadium Sports Complex, equipping U-14 and U-17 boys for the Divisional Level Competition in Jammu. The initiative, lauded for its focus on skill and teamwork, marked another stride in the district’s sports development.

Kupwara’s Martial Arts Competitions continued with vigor at Handwara Indoor Stadium, featuring Karate, Thang-Ta, and Fencing, while Budgam’s Netball, Softball, and Basketball trials at Sports Stadium and Foundation World School drew exceptional turnout. (JKNS)
