Udhampur, Aug 7 (JKNS): Two CRPF personnel were killed and fifteen others sustained injuries after a paramilitary vehicle rolled down a deep gorge in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Thursday.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the vehicle, carrying a group of CRPF jawans, skidded off the road and plunged into a steep gorge, triggering a massive rescue operation involving locals, police, and SDRF teams.
“Two bodies have been recovered from the spot, while 15 injured personnel have been evacuated and shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment,” an official confirmed.
The condition of several injured is reported to be critical. Rescue efforts are underway despite difficult terrain and poor access due to the depth of the gorge.
Police, SDRF personnel, and senior officers from CRPF and civil administration are present at the site, closely monitoring the situation.
Further updates will follow. (JKNS)
