Srinagar, Aug 12 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday emphasised that the determination of even a single individual can bring about major change, citing an example from the past when residents were not permitted to hoist the national flag at their homes.
Addressing participants after the Tiranga Rally in Srinagar, the CM, as per news agency JKNS, said, “Usually we say, or hear from others, that what one can change being alone, but remember the days when we were not allowed to hoist our flags at homes.”
He recalled that earlier the national flag was restricted to government properties. “One person embarked to change this. From where he got this motivation? He went to the US for studies, saw his peers having flags of their countries in their rooms, but he could not do it. He came back, started fighting, went to courts, secured the decision to allow hoisting at home,” Omar said.
“The gist is one can bring change by their own. We should uphold the prestige of the national flag, it is our identity, we should respect it,” the CM added. (JKNS)
