Poonch, August 15: The Indian Army’s Mandi Battalion celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervor at the Line of Control (LOC) in Sawajian, Mandi, Poonch district, in close collaboration with local villagers, especially the children of the border area. The event was aimed at strengthening the bond between the Army and the community, while inspiring the younger generation to contribute to the nation’s future.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag in the presence of local villagers and children. As the tricolour fluttered against the backdrop of the picturesque hills of Sawajian, the National Anthem reverberated across the area, evoking a strong sense of pride and unity among all present.
Following the flag hoisting, Army officers engaged the young children in motivational talks, focusing on Operation Sindoor and the role of youth in ensuring the country’s future success. The interaction was designed to instill discipline, patriotism, and a sense of responsibility among the youngsters living in these strategically important border areas.
