Srinagar, Aug 15 (JKNS): Kashmiri MBBS student Sabha Rasool, recently repatriated in the first batch during the Iran-Israel conflict and back to continue her studies, died today in a hospital in Iran where she had been admitted for treatment.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that she had been suffering from nausea and vomiting for several days before her condition worsened.

Her health deteriorated with seizures and unstable vitals before being moved to the ICU, where doctors cited fulminant hepatic failure and pulmonary complications as the cause of death, reports recieved by JKNS stated.

Meanwhile in a statement issued here to JKNS reads, The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Friday appealed to Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for urgent intervention to ensure the swift repatriation of her mortal remains from Iran to Srinagar for last rites.

Friends Allege Delay, Neglect in Treatment National Convenor Nasir Khuehami said friends and batchmates of the deceased alleged she suffered from nausea and vomiting for several days, yet faced long delays in receiving medical attention. “It took three hours for an ambulance to arrive, and she was made to wait for two hours before being allotted a bed in the Emergency Ward,” they said.

According to her peers, she remained on normal saline for two days, received painkillers only upon complaint, and reportedly went an entire day without vitals being checked. Requests to shift her to the GI Ward were initially ignored, and she was placed in a corridor before finally being moved to the International Patient Department, where her condition worsened.

Condition Deteriorated Before ICU Transfer Friends alleged she later developed seizures, unstable vitals, and tachycardia, after which she was moved to the ICU. On the final day, she reportedly became unresponsive. Doctors cited fulminant hepatic failure and pulmonary complications as the cause of death, but students claimed no definitive diagnosis was given before she passed away.

Statement reads, Family Appeals for Timely Repatriation The Association stressed that the bereaved family’s immediate priority is to bring Sabha’s mortal remains home. Iran Unit Coordinator Faizan Aishna described it as “a desperate plea from a devastated family seeking both justice and the chance to see their daughter one last time.”

The Association urged Dr. Jaishankar to liaise with Iranian authorities for swift completion of formalities and to press for strict action against the hospital if negligence is confirmed, reads the statement. (JKNS)
