Srinagar, Aug 16 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Saturday said it has taken up with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) the matter regarding the repatriation of the mortal remains of Sabha Rasool, a Kashmiri MBBS student from Safakadal, Srinagar, who died in Iran yesterday.
In a statement issued to news agency JKNS, the Association said, “We have spoken to the Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, and he has assured that the Ministry is actively pursuing the matter with utmost urgency.”
It said the necessary formalities for the transportation of her mortal remains are already underway and all possible efforts are being made to expedite the process.
“The mortal remains are expected to be transported to India, most likely on Tuesday, so that the bereaved family may perform her last rites in her homeland,” the Association said.
It added that their thoughts and prayers are with the family of Sabha Rasool in this unimaginably difficult time.
Sabha Rasool, a Kashmiri MBBS student who had recently returned to Iran to resume her studies after being evacuated in the first batch during the Iran-Israel conflict, died on Friday in a hospital in the country where she had been undergoing treatment. (JKNS)
