Ganderbal, Aug 17 (JKNS): The body of a 14-year-old teenage girl, was recovered along the Batsar-Sehpora road in Ganderbal after she was allegedly kidnapped and killed by unknown assailants.
According to police, the victim’s elder sister, who was also present during the incident, managed to escape but is under treatment in hospital in a state of shock.
SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal, while speaking to reporters, said, “After receiving reports of the girl’s death, police teams rushed to the spot and preliminary investigation revealed that she had been abducted near her home. Her body was later traced to the Batsar–Sehpora stretch, where crucial evidence was also recovered.”
He confirmed that a case under Section 103 BNS (murder) has been filed and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to conduct an in-depth probe.
“To identify the culprits, additional teams have been called from Srinagar. Our forensic experts are examining the site, and technical analysis of CCTV footage is being carried out. We are confident of cracking the case soon,” SSP Poswal said.
He appealed to the public to maintain calm and assured that justice will be delivered, adding that a board of doctors has been tasked with conducting a detailed medico-legal investigation. (JKNS)
