Srinagar, Aug 18 (JKNS): The weatherman on Monday clarified that there is no imminent flood threat in either Kashmir or Jammu regions, though moderate rainfall is likely to continue with chances of heavy to intense showers in some areas during the next 24 hours.
Faizan Arif Independent weather forecaster, as per news agency JKNS, it was said that while localized flash floods cannot be ruled out, the overall situation remains under control.
The weather advisory further explained that every intense shower should not be mistaken for a cloudburst. “A cloudburst is one in which rainfall exceeds 100 mm in an hour. Intense showers, however, can also trigger flash floods,” it stated.
Referring to the videos and images circulating from Warnow Lolab, Kashmir Weather said, “From the visuals it doesn’t seem to be a cloudburst. Still, details are awaited.”
Authorities have urged people to remain cautious in vulnerable areas while assuring that the situation is being closely monitored. (JKNS)
