Kupwara, Aug 19 (JKNS): With the IMD forecasting heavy to very heavy rains, the Kupwara District Administration has placed all departments on alert and issued a detailed advisory for the general public, urging them to exercise extreme caution.
The advisory, issued by Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, as per news agency JKNS, warns the public to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to areas prone to landslides and avalanches. It strictly advises against approaching rivers, streams, and other water bodies, as their levels could rise suddenly.
Farmers are also advised to take measures to protect their crops and livestock, and drivers are cautioned to drive slowly on slippery roads.
In addition to the public advisory, the DC has issued specific directives to various departments. PWD/R&B and I&FC departments have been told to keep men and machinery ready for road clearance and flood monitoring, respectively.
The PHE and KPDCL departments are tasked with ensuring essential services remain functional. Health, Police, SDRF, and Fire & Emergency Services have been directed to be prepared for any rescue or relief operations.
